Commencing mid-September through to early October, all grade 4 students in the York Catholic District School Board will take part in a group standardized assessment called the Canadian Cognitive Abilities Test (CCAT). The information collected will assist the schools in assessing children who may benefit from YCDSB program for gifted students known as Program for Academic and Creative Extension (PACE).
Scores and other school information are reviewed at the Board and children whose scores are within the very superior range on this achievement test will be considered for the next step in the screening process. If a child is selected for further assessment, parents will be asked to complete a Parent Inventory of Information and return it to the school. If parents do not receive a Parent Inventory, it is because their child’s scores were not in the range for further screening.
Parents may contact the school, after Christmas, for individual student results.
